  • Operation Solemn Promise

    What is Operation Solemn Promise?

Operation Solemn Promise (OSP) and the values discussion allowed the force to step back and think about our privilege to serve in the greatest profession of earth. OSP re-energized the force and ultimately accomplished the following:

    • Raised our awareness of the Army Values and why we serve.
    • Cultivated a deeper appreciation of the oath as the absolute foundation on which we stand.
    • Increased leader accountability to counter acts of indiscipline.
    • Became a foundational aspect of who we are.
    • Set the conditions to formally celebrate our privilege to serve.

The OSP commemoration Ceremony will provide an opportunity to reflect on the previous year, celebrate our profession, and ultimately achieve the following goals

    • Celebrate OSP as a foundational aspect of who we are
    • Maintain the momentum of OSP and the values discussion
    • Launch the profession of arms campaign under the OSP umbrella
    • Generate a deeper understanding of our privilege to serve in the greatest profession on earth
    • Establish a framework which highlights what it means to be professional soldiers, civilians, and local nationals
